The 2016 Hillwood football team reached the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Along with the 2105 team, it was the first back-to-back postseason berths since the 2003-2004 seasons.

As a result four players have been rewarded with the honor of being selected to the All-City team.

Senior wide receivers Kendrick Gordon and Kenneth Redd, sophomore quarterback Hale Page and senior linebacker Brandon Lyles were recently named to the 3A-4A All-City team at the 32nd Annual Coca-Cola All-City Banquet.

Gordon and Redd proved to be one of the most prolific wide receiver duos in the Midstate and in school history, this season.

The pair combined for 77 receptions for 1,279 yards and 14 TDs. Gordon totaled 34 catches for 580 yards, averaging 17.1 yards per reception and seven touchdowns, including a team-high 70-yard TD reception against Montgomery Central in which he had 10 catches for 193 yards.

Redd led the team in receiving with 37 catches for 699 yards, averaging 18.9 yards per reception and seven TDs.

Redd posted three games with over 100 yards receiving, including 153 receiving yards and a TD on five catches against Whites Creek.

Page, in his first year of varsity action, completed 105 of his 238 passes for 1,779 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The sophomore also rushed for five TDs, which was second on the team. Page passed for over 200 yards in five of the nine games he played in during the regular season, including a 317-yard effort versus Montgomery Central.

Lyles paced the Hilltoppers’ defense in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks.

For the season the senior finished with 77 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Lyles finished the season on a tear, posting 42 tackles in the last four games, including a season high 12 stops against Hickman County.
