"The home of hometown heroes"

NCS Honors Players at Banquet

The NCS boy’s basketball team held it’s banquet this past week. After last year, winning the district tourney & sectionals and going to the state, the Eagle’s were extremely disappointed at not advancing to the regionals.  Coach Mike McPherson summed up the season:

“It was difficult ending so early after last year,” McPherson said.

“Our problem was inconsistency. We either looked great or terrible. For example, against undefeated district winner Lead Academy, of the eight quarters we played them, we won four; it just wasn’t the right four,” he said.

“We also got a late start. Our football guys went deep into the playoffs, missed the first three weeks,,” McPherson said, adding “and I missed the first 11 days of the season. I had taken my wife to Thailand for treatments against her ALS.“

McPherson also added, “These guys and their parents were a great encouragement to me through the season. Though we didn’t go far, this team will always be special. They were a brief reprieve from a difficult situation.”
