West Side Hosts First Battle of the Dojongs

The West Side Taekwondo hosted the 1st Annual Battle of the Dajongs this Saturday and 106 competitors came to see who’s best.

“We thought it would be fun to get everyone together and get ready for the CTF (Choung Fil Taekwondo) regionals coming up in March,” said Whitney Mione who manages West Side.

“Everyone looked really great, tried their hardest, and now all have something to work on to make their technique better,” Whitney said.

Twenty-eight competitors represented West Side, while 50 came from Dickson TKD, 25 from McKeel Martial Arts and three from the Taekwondo Academy of Erin.

Three West Side members took first place in both sparring and forms, they are Isabella Sohnlein, Thomas Shriver and Batu Sivasli.  Laura Tyus took first in forms; Connor Wilson first in sparring; Jeremiah Buckley first in forms; Adrian Mahasi first in sparring; Kalen Cox second in forms, Carter Mohr second in forms, Nolan Pritchett second in forms, third in sparring; Adam Hafez second in sparring and forms; Evan Radke second in sparring, third in forms; Chasen Singleton second in sparring, third in forms; Laura Barnes third in forms; Tom Nguyen third in sparring; Rebeka Knight second in sparring, third in forms, Coleson Raines and Zan Coleman third in forms; Lily Sweets, Beckett Minnis and Deke Longuevan third in forms, Kaitlyn LoBello third in sparring; and Kasra Rafiei third in forms, third in sparring.
