BMS Loses Tough Contest to Prep

The Bellevue Middle School boys basketball team played tough in the first half against a very talented team from Nashville Prep School, but in the suffered a lopsided loss 69-41.

It was a back-and-forth contest in the first half against a very quick Prep team.

The Owls hung tough in the first half, only trailing 28-16 going into the locker room.

In the second half, Prep used their speed and quickness to take advantage of poor ball control from the Owls.

“We haven’t matured enough yet to take care of the basketball under pressure,” stated Owls coach Paul Evetts.

“We have some talented kids who have to learn to perform when the lights come on,” the coach added.

The Owls have five games remaining until tournament time.  “I’m hoping we can find our stride by then,” Coach Evetts said.

The Owls host Martin Luther King School and Lead Academy this week.

Against Prep, the Owls were once again led in scoring by Donovan Smith, who poured in 16 points.

Jaden Sparks also had a good game for Bellevue Middle, scoring seven points.
