CPA Runs Over BGA in Rebound Win
Christ Presbyterian Academy welcomed Battle Ground Academy to the Den this week and ran all over them in a dominating 45-14 win.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter and just kept going from their, outscoring BGA 10-0 in the second quarter and 21-7 in the second half.
CPA’s Zane Patterson had a big first half for the Lions. The big power back scored on a 64-yard run at the end of the first quarter to make it 14-7.
After kicker Sebastian Stubblefield booted a field goal to make it 17-7, Patterson again broke free, this time from 29 yards out to give the Lions a 24-7 lead just short of halftime.
After a couple of defensive stands from both teams to start the second half, BGA was able to cut the lead to 24-14 with 4:30 left in the third quarter.
But the Lions came right back on their next possession to regain a 17-point lead, this time on a 22-yard touchdown pass by Ryan Eledge to make it 31-14 at the end of the third quarter.
CPA running back Chase Huseman took over the scoring chores for the Lions in the fourth quarter.
The senior capped of the Lions’ drive to start the quarter with a 2-yard dive for a touchdown to give CPA a 38-14 lead.
The Lion defense played great in the fourth, denying BGA any hope of a comeback.
Huseman wrapped things up for the Lions, again finding the end zone to cap off a CPA drive, this time from six yards out to give the Lions the final 45-14 margin of victory.
CPA will be back at home this Friday, welcoming Hillsboro to the Den at 7 p.m.
