CPA Wins Two, Drops Rival Game v Ensworth
The Christ Presbyterian Academy boys varsity basketball team had a busy schedule this week, winning two games before falling to rival Ensworth on the weekend.
The Lions were unable to overcome a slow start against Ensworth on Saturday, losing 71-50.
The Tigers played consistently the entire game, scoring 15 points in the first quarter and 17 in the second, while holding CPA to just nine points in the first and six in the second to take a commanding 32-15 lead at halftime.
The Lions played much better in the second half, scoring 35 points, but Ensworth stayed consistent, matching them basket for basket and held on for the win.
James Wiseman scored 23 points for Ensworth. Keyshawn Lawrence scored 14 points and Warren Zager added nine and Keyonte Calloway six for the Tigers.
Clay Washburn led the Lions with 20 points, while Michael Mayernick added 10 points for CPA.
Drew Scott scored nine points while James Deaton and Bryce McCormick added four point for the Lions.
Earlier in the week, CPA won two games, the first on Tuesday 64-53 against Cascade. Then on Friday, the Lions beat Spring Hill High School 68-39.
Drew Scott led the way for CPA against Cascade, scoring 18 points.
Michael Mayernick also contributed to the balanced attack, scoring 17 points while Bryce McCormick added 14 points.
Clay Washburn and Matt Dial added six points each, while Dean Cooper added two points.
Washburn was hot against Spring Hill, scoring a game-high 23 points to lead the Lions.
Drew Scott scored 11 points, while Deaton and McCormick each added 10 points for CPA.
