Tigers Shine in Match-Up with Irish
The Ensworth Tigers scored 23 unanswered points and continued their march into the playoffs with a 23-7 victory against rival Father Ryan.
The win set up a huge showdown with Montgomery Bell Academy this Friday.
Ensworth’s stars shined against Father Ryan. Running back Tim Covington ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for another to lead the Tigers.
Quarterback Jaylon King was excellent throwing and running for the Tigers.
Rodney Owens played stellar defense, and caught another bomb from King for a touchdown.
Ensworth scored the game’s first 23 points before giving up a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Covington finished with 131 yards rushing on 20 attempts, including his touchdown. He also caught a 20-yard pass for another touchdown.
King completed 8 of 13 passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 10 times for another 47 yards.
Owens caught four passes for 69 yards, including a 48-yard TD.
