"The home of hometown heroes"

It has been a tremendous honor and a whole lot of fun covering high school athletics these last three years.

When we first launched the Bellevue Sports Weekly, I knew there was plenty of action to cover, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of competition available to local sports fans.

The athletic programs at the three private high schools we cover, Ensworth, Nashville Christian and Christ Presbyterian Academy is second to none.

Each school has produced a state champion in football, and each school will be at it again this year.

Ensworth is led by head coach Ricky Bowers, and won four straight state titles, producing some tremendous players, including Corn Elder and Conor McDermott, who were both drafted by NFL teams this year.

NCS is led by coach Jeff Brothers and won the state title two years ago. Watch for NCS grads Alex Givens at Ole Miss and Daniel Bituli at Tennessee to continue to shine in college.

CPA is led by coach Ingle Martin, who has turned the Lions into a  football powerhouse, winning a state title three years ago.

Last but not least, coach Herb Page has made tremendous strides at Hillwood High School.  The team has turned into a playoff contender, and will continue to grow when it becomes the new Bellevue High School in 2020.

I hope you are as excited as I am.  The season kicks off in two weeks, and we will be here to bring you all the action!

It's High School Football Time Again!
