On Friday April 20th, the Miracle League of Music City, along with presenting partner West Nashville Sports Leagues, hosted the 1st Annual Miracle League Music City Golf Scramble and Silent Auction.

The scramble, which was held to benefit the capital campaign fundraising efforts to build the Miracle League field and complex, hosted 90 golfers during a beautiful spring day at Harpeth Hills Golf Course.

“We were very excited to see so many golfers turn out to support a great cause,”said Carly Hill, one of the scramble organizers. “The Miracle Field will be an important part of the Nashville community, and we hope to continue to host and grow this event.”

As the golfers arrived, they were greeted by breakfast provided by Hunt Brothers Pizza and the Silent Auction, which included items donated from the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, Kendra Scott and more!

As they moved to their carts to tee off, the golfers were treated to some inspirational words by H.K. Derryberry.

HK Derryberry, blind and with cerebral palsy, is one of a few people in the world that has a superior autobiographical memory, also known as hyperthymesia.

Derryberry and his mentor Jim Bradford came out to give a welcome to the golfers and as HK told the golfers he hoped that the golfers would have a “great day of golf” and no matter what their circumstances are in life “to keep positive and to call him if they ever needed some encouragement.”

As Scott Tygard, the Director of the Miracle Field of Music City, suggests: “With HK’s disposition and his life’s circumstances, he is a perfect example of why there is such a need for a Miracle Field of Music City.”

After the golfers had completed their 18 holes, they were invited back to the clubhouse for lunch from Martin’s BBQ and the announcement of the winners. Awards were given for Net Score, Gross Score, Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin on all Par 3 holes. Congratulations to our Winners!

Miracle League Music City and West Nashville Sports Leagues would like to thank Hunt Brothers Pizza, Martin’s BBQ, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and all other sponsors for helping us raise $17,500 towards bringing a Miracle to Nashville!
