The Harding Academy seventh and eighth grade football team has opened the 2016 football season with four consecutive victories.

The Generals earned wins over St. Henry School, St. Joseph School, Grace Christian Academy (GCA), and most recently, Donelson Christian Academy (DCA).

Two quarterbacks have shared time in leading the Generals this year.

William Myers ‘17 and Ryan Schmadtke ‘18 have been effective in the two-quarterback system.

Having a set of weapons on the perimeter in receivers Reid Buschmann ‘17, Will Morrison ‘17, Andrew Garrett ‘17, and Parker Wainwright ‘18 has helped take pressure off the running game and has allowed for running back Luke Haley ‘17 to have a great deal of success.

A strong defensive front led by Jordan Turner ‘18, Mason McKee ‘17, Luke Venable ‘18, James Johnson ‘18, Andrew Romito ‘18, and Andrew Garrett ‘17 has allowed the Generals to put relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Having played in just three games so far this season, Jordan Turner has recovered ten sacks from this defensive end position.

Linebackers Ryan Schmadtke ‘18, Will Morrison ‘17, and Luke Haley ‘17 have been all over the field making plays.

In the past three games, Harding has recorded two defensive touchdowns and a safety.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday, Sept 21, in their annual Spirit Game against Christ the King (4:30 PM).

The Generals will conclude the season on Thursday, Sept. 29, in a road contest at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.
