HYSA Coach Nominated for National Award
By Alicia Steinhilber
HYSA is proud to announce that one of its Nashville FC Youth coaches, Jordan Salisbury, was named a National Finalist for Positive Coaching Alliance’s 2017 Double-Goal Coach® Award presented by TeamSnap.
The 146 finalists were chosen from over 2,000 nominations nationwide, and represent 25 different sports. In the coming weeks, PCA’s judges will select 50 national winners.
In addition to Coach Salisbury’s success on the field, most recently with his U19 (1998) Revolution team winning the Division 1 Tennessee State Cup and the Southern Regional Premier League, First Division in the fall of 2016, players, parents and coaches alike praise him for his genuine, honest nature, and his ability to connect with his players and build championship team cultures that foster passion for the game, discipline, commitment, and connection.
Positive Coaching Alliance is a nationally-acclaimed program and nonprofit working to create a positive, character-building sports experience for all youth athletes.
Endorsed by professional athletes and national sports organizations, PCA seeks to temper the “win-at-all-costs” mentality that has infiltrated youth sports.
PCA instills in players a mindset for on and off-field success, teaches parents to focus on improvement rather than scores, and provides coaches with tools to maximize their effectiveness. A “Double-Goal Coach” is a coach who wants to win and help players learn “life lessons” and positive character traits from sports.
HYSA partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance in July 2015, and currently mandates “Double Goal Coach” training for all coaches in its recreational and travel leagues. For more information about HYSA/Nashville FC Youth, please visit our recently renovated website at www.nashvilllefcyouth.com.
