"The home of hometown heroes"

Most people know of ALS as the disease that claimed the life of famous NY Yankee great Lou Gehrig, but for members of the Nashville Christian School community, the dreaded illness has struck home.

Lisa McPherson, the wife of NCS teacher and coach Mike McPherson has been diagnosed with ALS.  The family will face many challenges and hardships in their battle against the disease, but members of the NCS family are letting the McPhersons know they are not alone.

Lindsey Jenkins McPherson has set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money to pay for treatment costs and other expenses.  The goal is $50,000 and as of today, $31,290 has already been raised.

This is what Lindsey says on the page: “If you’ve made it to this page then you already love Lisa or know someone who does. Lisa is a wife, a mother, a granny, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a friend, and so many other things to so many. If you know her, then you know she is already your biggest fan and supporter. Lisa cares greatly for the people in her life. Whether she is putting together workouts for her fitness group or coming up with new Bible class ideas or maybe testing out crazy new recipes on her unsuspecting family, Lisa is a part of so many lives.

“How will the money be used? Well, to start, Lisa has been accepted into a treatment facility located in Bangkok. She and Mike will stay there for two weeks while receiving various therapies,” she says, adding “As time goes on, Lisa will also have other medical expenses and home adaptation (wheelchair accessibility) expenses.

“In all my years being a part of the McPherson family, I haven’t known Lisa to ask for much help, if any. On the other hand, she is always there for me when I need a helping hand. I’m sure many of us can share stories of Lisa eager to help when we needed her. Let’s join together to help out Lisa in her time of need. The McPherson family is grateful for each and every one of you,”
