WNSL to Host Miracle Field Golf Outing
By Carly Hill
The WNSL is hosting the Fourth-Annual WNSL Golf Scramble on Friday, May 20th. The Scramble will take place at Harpeth Hills Golf Course, with an 8 a.m. “shotgun-start”. All proceeds will benefit Miracle League of Music City.
At last year’s golf scramble, WNSL had more than 80 golfers take to the course to raise over $9,000 for the same cause.
According to Roger Maness, one of the organizers, “A successful event is measured by not only the amount of money raised for the purpose, but also to raise the awareness for the project and to insure that everyone has a good time in their effort”.
The Miracle League is a specially-designed, accessible baseball field for children and adults with special needs. A Miracle League field includes fully-accessible restrooms, concessions, dugouts and a playground for players ages 4-99.
There are currently 275 Miracle league organizations in the US and around the globe. Tennessee is already home for two such organizations, with Chattanooga having a field and Murfressboro having one under construction. WNSL is hoping to build the first one in Nashville area, at Warner Park.
If you aren’t a golfer and would still like to support the Miracle League, WNSL is also participating in the Big Payback, 2016.
The Big Payback is an online, community, giving day, hosted by the Community Foundation.
Beginning at Midnight on Tuesday, May 3rd, more than 700 organizations will be hosting live events and participating in online contests.
Registration for the 3rd Annual WNSL Golf Scramble is now open online.
