Eagles Win a Thriller to Advance to Semi's

"The home of hometown heroes"

Nashville Christian School found themselves down late in the game in the first round of the 2016 TSSAA Class 1A playoffs against Huntingdon High School, but managed to rally and advance to the semifinals with a 27-26 victory.

Eagles’ quarterback Bryce Pemberton, who tossed three touchdown passes on the night, found Slater Howard from eight yards out to tie it for NCS, and Riley Griffin split the uprights with the point after to win it.

After a scoreless first period, Pemberton got NCS on the board with a 39-yard pass to Howard.

After a Huntingdon score, Pemberton connected with Andrew Sullivan from 31 yards out to regain the lead.

Huntingdon scored twice more, but missed the conversions to take a 18-14 lead at the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Xavier Myers got the lead back for NCS, breaking away for a 62-yard touchdown run that gave the Eagles a 20-18 lead.

Huntingdon fought back, regaining the lead on a 7-yard run, this time converting a 2-point play for a 26-20 lead.

That set the stage for Pemberton’s game winning toss to Howard.

Pemberton finished with 116 yards passing, going 9-17 with three touchdowns.

Myers finished with 106 yards rushing on just nine carries.

Howard caught three passes for 66 yards and the two touchdowns.
