NFC Opens Fall Season with Seminar

To kick off the fall season, Nashville FC Youth hosted Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for a weekend of parent, coach and student-athlete workshops on how to use the power of positive to maximize opportunities for kids to learn and grow through their sports experience.
With funding provided by The Predators Foundation, the club has entered the third year of its partnership with PCA, a national non-profit whose mission is to transform the youth sports culture into a Development Zone® where all youth and high school athletes have a positive, character-building experience that results in “Better Athletes, Better People.”
Nashville FC Youth, the only club in Tennessee partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance, is committed to creating a positive environment for the development of kids with a mission of “Teaching Life Through Soccer.”
The weekend consisted of four workshops with national PCA trainers.
The parent talk on “Tips and Tools to Develop Winners in Life Through Sports” included ways for parents to learn how they can best navigate the terrain to support their child to thrive and get the most out of their youth sports experience.
The “Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor” workshop was for older middle-school and high school aged student-athletes and taught them how to become Triple Impact Competitors, impacting sport on three levels by working to improve oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.
PCA expanded this offering with a Junior Triple-Impact Competitor workshop which included younger elementary school-aged athletes as they plant the seeds of becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor.
Finally, the Coaches Workshop covered ideas creating and refining a personal coaching philosophy based on the Double-Goal Coach model, developing a team culture that encourages athletes to give 100% effort and strive for excellence, establishing a team’s “signature statements” and “trigger words” to reinforce those values, strategies for common game-coaching challenges and maintaining composure in difficult situations.
