Owls Even Record With Win Over Lead

The Bellevue Owls boys basketball team evened their record at 2-2 last Thursday night with a convincing 48-11 win over Lead Academy 

It was a defensive game from the tip for Bellevue, who kept the pressure up on Lead the whole night. 

The Owls led 16-4 at the close of the first quarter. 

Bellevue used a full court pressure defense to limit Lead Academy to 13 first-half points.  

The Owls went to the locker room with a 29-7 advantage.  

Bellevue went on to dominate the second half holding Lead scoreless in the third quarter.  

Leading 39-13 going into the fourth quarter the Owls were able to empty their bench and get everyone some experience .  

“We are starting to play the kind of defense I want us to play,” Coach Paul Evetts stated. 

“We are a small team and rely on our speed and hustle to win,” the coach said.

“I’m trying to instill that into the kids minds that defense wins championships and offense wins games, he added.

The Owls were led in scoring by Donavan Smith with 15, Jonah Lane 10, and Taryn Wiggins 8. The team will be back in action tomorrow.
