Owls Lose Game & QB to Nashville Prep
By David Bonner
In front of a large crowd celebrating Homecoming, the Bellevue Middle School Owls ran into a tough Nashville Prep team that was bent on crashing the party.
When all was said and done, the visitors not only beat the home team 42-6 on Thursday, but also ended the season for their starting quarterback.
The Owls fell behind early 7-0 when the Nashville Prep running back broke free for a long touchdown run.
After stalling on offense, the Owls were forced to punt. The Nashville Prep returner was able to elude the cover team and return the kick all the way back for anther touchdown, and a 14-0 lead.
The Owls got on the board in the second quarter on a 2-yard run from Lejuan Davis.
Nashville Prep found the end zone a couple more times before the half was over. The halftime score was 26-6.
The Owls put up a great fight against a strong and fast Prep team but it just seemed to be not enough.
Quarterback Jaded Sparks went down with a season ending injury in the first half and it was an uphill battle the rest of the way.
The final score came to 42 -6 Nashville Prep.
“We had a great week of practice,” said Owls coach Bill Evetts.
“It was big let down coming out and not performing like I know were capable of playing,” stated coach Evetts.
“We have to bounce back these next two weeks and improve,” he added.
The Owls welcome HG Hill this week at Bellevue Middle School Field. Game time 5 p.m.
