Owls Bow to West End in Season Opener

The Bellevue Owls opened the season this past week against West End Middle. The Owls came up on the short end 27-16.

The Owls fell behind 13-0 early in the first half. A few mental mistakes cost the Owls early on.

After a slow start in the first quarter Lejuan Davis found the end zone on a sweep around right end. Jonah Lane scored on the conversion.

That made the score 13-8 heading into the second half. Once again mental mistakes and cramps cost the Owls in the second half.

More than a few Owls went down with heat related cramps. West End took advantage of the mistakes and key players being out to add to the lead.

Jordan Sparks found pay dirt late in the fourth quarter on a short run up the middle.

Sparks converted on conversion as well.

The Owls were led in rushing by Steven McLaren who finished with 100 plus yards on five carries. McLaren also lead on the defensive side with many tackles for losses.

The Owls come on this week and welcome J.T. Moore for a 5 p.m. kick-off on Thursday.

Come out and support the owls in the season home opener.
