The Bellevue Steelers Pee Wee football team got a big win on Saturday, 22-13 against the Donelson Warriors. It was a great day for all the coaches and parents who have worked really hard with the kids. The pee wee team has been practicing for about six weeks now and the players have continued to improve each day. For most of the kids its their first time ever playing football and they are really enjoying learning the game and making new friends.
Led by running backs Kyren Frank and Jimmie Hudson Jr. who both had touchdowns, the Steelers offense moved the ball well throughout the game. First year quarterback Cody Ballard managed the offense superbly and added a 57 yard touchdown run of his own in the third quarter. The swarming Steelers defense was led by Jackson Ramsey who had four solo tackles and Cody Ballard who had a huge touchdown saving tackle. Jimmie Hudson Jr. had two fumble recoveries that really changed the momentum in the game.
Coaches Aaron Northcutt, Bill Demestihas, Torrey Williams, Reed Ammons, Jimmy Hudson, and Marcus Braxton have volunteered their time to teach these youngsters the fundamentals of the game and to play with passion, effort, and enjoyment. They are well on their way to building a tremendous foundation for the next generation of Bellevue Steelers. Coach Northcutt rewards players each game with game balls to acknowledge their efforts. He explains, “every week I give away game balls to the best hustler and the one who played with the most determination. This week I gave the best hustler award to Jimmie Hudson Jr. and the best determination ball went to Mason Bonner.” The Steelers pee wee team will next face the Hendersonville Titans on August 26, 2017 at 9:00 am at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville, TN. Admission is free so co come out and support your community team that’s been a Bellevue tradition since 1977.
