The Bellevue Steelers said goodbye to their dear friend Selik Thompson on Saturday.

Many of his teammates, coaches, friends, and family made the journey to Mobile, Alabama to pay their respects to Selik and the Thompson family.

Although it was a sad time for everyone in attendance, it was a celebration of life for young Selik and a reminder that his memory will forever live on through his many friends and family.

Steelers supporter Dani Pearson, mother of Selik’s teammate Trey Pearson summed it up best.

“Yesterday was one of the saddest days I’ve ever experienced in my life! Despite the sadness and devastation, so many beautiful things came from this situation!” she said.

“Because of that I’m so grateful for the goodness of God and his grace and mercy! I’m also so thankful to be a part of such a wonderful organization with the BELLEVUE STEELERS!” Dani said.

“There is no other organization in Nashville that can compare to the compassion, love, and support shown this last week for The Thompson family! We are family!!”  Dani said.

“There were so many people from the Steeler family present in Mobile, AL for Selik and his family that I was blown away!!” she added.

“To Selina Thompson and Alabama, the grieving process is just beginning and we want you guys to know that we’re here for you every step of the way!” she said.

“We love you guys!! We are family, and we’ll get through this together and with God’s good grace!”

The Steelers organization again would like to thank all the organizations and individuals for their tremendous support, donations, and words of encouragement.

There is a benefit planned for Thursday evening, March 30th, at Hope Park Church in Bellevue. There will be great food from Hattie B’s and City Limits, along with a silent auction and other donation opportunities.
