"The home of hometown heroes"

Smith Leads BMS in Tough Losses

The Bellevue Middle School boys’ basketball team dropped two tough contests this week.

West End and Head Middle Schools dealt the Owls the losses.

West End beat the Owls 42-29 and Head finished on top 45-35.

Both contest were back-and-forth games with the Owls running out of gas in the fourth quarter in both games.

The Owls were paced by DONOVAN Smith, who torched the nets for 15 points in the first game, and 18 in the second.

The Owls continue to look for inside help, again getting out-played because of their lack of size.

“Our defense and hustle are there every night, we just struggle with giving other teams second and third chances on the boards,” explained Owls Coach Evetts.

Seventh-grade sharp-shooter Donovan Smith continues to lead the Owls in scoring.  His shooting from beyond the arc has keep the Owls in the game all year.

“Donovan continues to carry us, Coach Evetts said.

“We just need to find another scorer when the defense focuses on him,” the coach said.

The Owls fell to 2-5 on the season with the losses. They take on HG Hill this week.
