Ensworth sophomore Maggie Cannata has been named a finalist for Mid-State Girls Tennis Player of the year. Maggie completed a 16-0 regular season.

She was upset in the semis of the Individual Regionals by a solid Baylor School player, but still qualified for the Individual State Championship and made the All-State Class AA Division II Girls Tennis Team. She plays Peyton Sessions (UTR 5.75) in the 1st round on Thursday, May 25th at 11:00am.

The Ensworth Girls Tennis Team received a first round bye and travel to St. Benedict in Memphis the week of May 15th in the Quarterfinals. If they win, they will be the 1st Ensworth Tennis Team to qualify for the State Team Tournament.

Ensworth senior Tyra Gittens will have a chance to not only set the record for most individual track and field championships in TSSAA history, she will likely smash it. Gittens is currently tied for most ever with 12 medallions.  As a sophomore and junior, the star from Trinidad and Tobago repeated as the Division II pentathlon champion, and also won the high jump, long jump, 100-meter and 200-meter hurdles.

She is the favorite to repeat in all five categories again and become the most successful track athlete in TSSAA history.
