The West Nashville Sports Leagues have begun signing up teams and individuals for the upcoming fall season.

Once again this year, the fall schedule will include baseball, flag football and cheerleading.

Flag football will be played at the Percy Warner Park.  Entry deadline is August 3rd.

The season will kick off with a pre-season jamboree on August 22nd.  League play begins September 12 and runs through October 24.

Games are played on Saturdays and practices are held during the week.

There will be different age groups, including Pre-K, K, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade and 7, 8, 9th grade.

According to WNSL president Scott Tygard, the focus of the league is to teach children the fundamentals of 7-on-7 football, with a minimal risk of injury.

“By using the flags, we can teach the game of football and minimize the risk associated with full contact,” Tygard said.

“It’s fun football without the injury risk,” he said.

At the end of the season, players will participate in the Music City  Flag Bowl tournament.

“It’s a real bonus of fun and excitement,” Tygard said.

Now that the baseball tournament season is winding down, it’s again time to sign up for fall baseball.

Registration deadline for fall baseball is also August 3rd.  Players who sign up for baseball and football will receive a $20 discount.

The baseball league is open to boys and girls, ages 5-15.

The season begins August 22nd at Edwin Warner Park.

Divisions include Wookies, 4, 5, 6-year-olds, Rookies, 7/8-year-olds, Minors, 9/10-year-olds, Majors, 11/12-year-olds and Preps, 13/14 and 15-year-olds.

Jerseys are provide to football players, hats and jerseys to baseball players.  Cheerleaders will provide their own uniforms.
